Hundreds of Camp Bastion-based service men and women have been using some precious time off to run one of the world's toughest marathon courses.
As if dealing with the enemy, torrential winter storms and a spring heatwave were not enough, they stepped up to the challenge of performing in one of the most challenging environments.
The fastest - in three hours eighteen seconds - was WO2 Matt Pellow. He's an Army Triathlete with several London marathons under his running shoes. The event is expected to have raised around ten thousand pounds for forces charities.
